Spot Locator

Here is the technical bit. . .

We have taken a 'Spot' satellite tracker with us. This device allows us to press a button which uses GPS to report our position to a satellite. The satellite forwards the data to a ground station which in turn sends an email to a special mail box that I have set up. The website checks this mail box at regular intervals and retrieves the position data and converts it into a .kml file that Google Maps understands. The map is updated within an hour of us pressing the button.
