Ben Nevis to Skye

Ros was complaining that her knee was not so good so instead of climbing the mountain we went for a drive up to Loch Ness and returned via Invergary.

On the way we passed through Fort Augustus and stopped to walk around the locks on the Caledonian Canal.

 The views of the snow capped mountains were spectacular.

Ros found a new friend in a lay-by in the mountains!

We took a ride on a cable car to the Nevis Ski area and enjoyed the views over a cup of coffee.

 The next day we drove to Mallaig and caught the ferry across to Skye. The navigator directed me down some very narrow single track roads to a place called Glendale and guess what was at the end?

A patchwork shop!!!

The views weren't too bad though.

We found a camping spot in a field with good views across to the mountains. An hour or two after taking the photo the clouds in the background enveloped us and the wind and rain battered us all night and all the next day.

Special information for Denise in Brisbane. . .

• Ros did get the non-snoring compartment in the motorhome although it is difficult to tell from where I am sleeping as there is too much noise from someone close by to tell.
• Ros has her own bunk and we have a king sized double at the other end, the dining area is set up all the time.
• The motorhome is 6.5m long by 2.3m wide and 3.05 m high. It mounted on a Fiat chassis and is diesel powered.
• We have central heating, hot and cold running water, a flushing loo with a separate shower cubicle and a grey water holding tank.
• I have driven a motorhome in Tasmania in 2007.
• We have not been bogged (yet! but were a bit concerned at the location above!)
• The girls were knitting baby blankets for the local hospital prem baby unit.
• My inside leg measurement is 32" and I prefer briefs rather than boxing shorts.
